NEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team (6-5, 2-0) will cap off a three-match non-conference swing on Sunday against the 32
nd-ranked LSU Tigers (12-3, 0-1) at Dub Robinson Stadium on Sunday. The match is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start.
The Privateers suffered a 5-2 loss to Bryant, also giving the Bulldogs their first win of the spring. New Orleans fell in the first two doubles matches to finish and was defeated in all but the 4 and 5 positions in singles. Friday's loss marked the second time the Privateers were denied a quest for three straight victories.
Blake Gregor and
Romain Lefevre continue their steady play in the back half of the rotation. Gregor and Lefevre both went three sets, but stayed to task in singles wins against Bryant. Gregor is 9-1 and has won seven straight singles decisions. Lefevre has moved his spring mark to 6-0.
Sunday will mark the first match for the Privateers against a ranked opponent. New Orleans has not beaten the Tigers in 11 career meetings. The last outing was a 7-0 loss on Feb. 28, 2014. For LSU, the Privateers will be their second opponent of the day. The Tigers will start Sunday with a match against #11 Vanderbilt at 12 p.m.
Two Tigers have already notched double figures in wins for the spring. Justin Butsch is 10-2 while having played at four different positions. Chris Simpson has the same mark while playing 10 of his 12 matches at the 2 spot and the other two matches at the top position.
