Men's Tennis Snags Doubles Point but Falls to Appalachian State

TROY, Ala. – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team (6-9, 2-1 Southland) won the doubles point but could not hold the early momentum as they lost 5-2 to the Appalachian State Mountaineers (7-9, 1-1 Sun Belt on Saturday afternoon.
 
Blake Gregor and Rui Silva won their match at #1 doubles 8-5. After Appalachian State took the second doubles match, it was up to Christoffer Appelgren and Luis Albuquerque at the 3 spot. Appelgren and Albuquerque won a tiebreak 8-7 to give New Orleans the first point of the day.
 
However, the Mountaineers came back strong in singles play to overwhelm the Privateers, taking five of six singles matches with all of them being decided in straight sets. The only Privateers singles win came from Blake Gregor at the 3 spot. Gregor defeated Scott Webster 7-6, 6-4. Webster came into the match 13-2 in singles play.
 
The Privateers return home on Wednesday to play Lindenwood.
