Privateers Continue Late Push in Home Finale Against Southeastern

THE GAME:
The New Orleans Privateers women's basketball team (6-19, 4-12) looks to continue their late push to the Southland Conference tournament as they take on the Southeastern Lady Lions (7-20, 3-13) on Thursday at Lakefront Arena. Tip is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
 
With two games left, the Privateers are a game back of the eighth and final spot in the conference tournament, which will be held in Katy, Texas. New Orleans needs to pass both Sam Houston State and Houston Baptist who are currently in a tie for the final slot. It is also Senior Night and the Privateers will honor their lone senior, Dannisha Jackson.
 
Southeastern has lost eight straight heading into play and their latest was a 73-57 loss at the hands of Central Arkansas. Nanna Pool posted her 11th double-double of the season with 18 points and 12 rebounds. The Lady Lions have yet to win a road game this season (0-14).

LAST TIME OUT:
The Privateers forced 31 turnovers and scored 35 points off of those miscues in a 71-50 win over Abilene Christian on Saturday. New Orleans snapped the Wildcats' five-game winning streak in the process. Randi Brown posted another strong scoring effort, putting up 27 points on 9-of-18 shooting. Danielle Davis had 14 points, six assists, and five steals. Octavia Wilson added 13 points from the bench.

NEXT UP:
The Privateers close the regular season on the road against Northwestern State on Saturday. Tip is scheduled for 1 p.m.
 
NEWS AND NOTES:
YOUR HONOR:
Randi Brown was named Southland Conference Player of the Week after posting 54 points in wins over Nicholls and Abilene Christian. Brown saw her scoring average rise from 7.6 points per game to 11.6 in the month of February.  Brown has hit 17 threes in her last four games.
 
NEW MARKS:
In Saturday's win, the Privateers had their best field goal percentage (46.0). New Orleans also shot 50 percent in the first half. New Orleans also set season bests in team assists (14) and three-pointers made (9). Danielle Davis dished a career-high six assists and had 11 helpers last week.
 
LAST ON THE LAKEFRONT:
Dannisha Jackson will play her final home game as a Privateer on Thursday. Jackson has lettered two years in New Orleans after transferring from Panola JC. Jackson has appeared in 43 games (16 this season).
