NEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team (10-9, 3-1 Southland) has a short turnaround as they close the regular season against the Lamar Cardinals (11-10, 2-1) on Sunday at the Thompson Family Tennis Center. The match is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
The Privateers started their last match, a 5-2 victory against Incarnate Word, on Friday afternoon. However, rains came and forced the dual to be stopped until Saturday morning with New Orleans ahead 3-1.
Romain Lefevre helped the Privateers clinch the match with his 11
th singles victory of the spring.
The tandem of
Blake Gregor and
Rui Silva has continued to help anchor the doubles unit for the Privateers. Gregor and Silva are 11-4 overall and 3-1 against conference opponents. The #2 tandem has won four straight decisions including an 8-1 victory during the Incarnate Word dual that began on Friday.
Lamar enters the second of a two matches in as many days. The Cardinals came into the weekend at 11-10 overall and 2-1 in conference action. The Cardinals have alternated wins and losses in their last 11 duals. Sunday will mark just the third home match for Lamar since the beginning of March.
Michael Feucht and Benny Schweizer co-lead the team in wins with 13 each. Feucht has gone 11-7 at the 2 position and has won both matches when called upon to play at the 1 spot. Schweizer has been scattered throughout the middle of the rotation, earning six wins at the 3 spot, five at the 4 position, and the other two at the 2 slot.
