Men's Tennis Waits Out Rain, Defeats Incarnate Word

BOX SCORE

SAN ANTONIO, Texas
– The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team (10-9, 3-1 Southland) got back on the plus side of .500 as they polished off a 5-2 victory over the Incarnate Word Cardinals (5-16, 0-4) on Saturday at the UIW Tennis Courts.

The match started on Friday with the Privateers jumping out to a 3-1 lead before the rains came and halted play. The two teams resumed on Saturday morning and Romain Lefevre finished off a straight set victory. Lefevre was ahead 4-1 in the second set before the halt due to weather and he wound up dusting off the set at 6-2.

Giacomo Adoncecchi also finished off his singles match with a win after it was halted in progress yesterday. With the victory, Adoncecchi moved to 6-7 on the season and snapped a three-match singles losing skid.

Yesterday saw the Privateers earn the doubles point with wins at the 2 and 3 spot. In singles, Blake Gregor and Rui Silva each won their singles matches to put New Orleans on the brink of victory. The Privateers have now won four straight duals.

The regular season closes with a match at Lamar on Sunday. The match is scheduled for 2 p.m.
