Men's Tennis Runs By Jackson State

BOX SCORE

NEW ORLEANS, La.
– The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team (8-9) coasted in singles play on their way to a 5-0 win over the Jackson State Tigers (3-19) on Thursday afternoon at the University Tennis Center.

The Privateers automatically earned the doubles point to start the match after it was delayed by two hours. That turned the spotlight onto singles where New Orleans quickly finished four matches to earn their second consecutive victory.

With Senior Day festivities ahead of the match, the senior laden squad keyed the victory. Rui Silva started it off with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at the 2 spot. Blake Gregor and Romain Lefevre also earned straight set victories at the 4 and 5 spot respectively. Gonzalo Garcia also nailed down a 6-2, 6-2 victory of his own.

The Privateers will finish their home stretch against Alcorn State on Friday. The match is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
