The University of New Orleans women's basketball team (6-15, 3-9 Southland) will be loading up the bus often in these next two weeks and it starts with a trip to Southeastern to take on the Lady Lions (4-19, 3-9) on Thursday at the University Center. Tip is slated for 7 p.m.

The Privateers enter a four-game road trip in hopes of clicking off wins as they did at this point last year. New Orleans will be traveling to Southeastern, Northwestern State, Abilene Christian, and Nicholls before coming back to the Lakefront Arena for the final two games of the season. Currently, New Orleans is two back of the eighth and final spot of the Southland tournament.

In their last outing, the Privateers were in a tight battle with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, but fell 75-64 as the Islanders used free throws to pull away in the final minute.
Randi Brown scored 29 points and also led the team in rebounds with six. For the season, Brown has posted nine games of 20 or more points and is second in the Southland in scoring at 18.4 points per game.

"At this point in the season it's not going to be anything new that teams are implementing," said Coach
Keeshawn Davenport. "For us it's about defense. During this break we've been working on how to keep teams under 60 points. If we can't stop someone from scoring, the results will be the same. The focus has been on how we can do a better job at getting stops."

The Privateers had a solid offensive performance against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, most notably in the first half when they shot 52 percent from the field. New Orleans also set a new season mark for threes made in a game with eight. Brown hit five triples while
Danielle Wright added two.

Mathilde Fogelstrom also returned to the court last Thursday. The senior center had missed the previous five games due to an ankle injury. In her return, Fogelstrom logged eight minutes but more importantly re-established depth in the post.

"I'm excited about her return," said Davenport. "She wasn't 100 percent against Corpus Christi but she was a defensive presence. She's been looking good in these practices this week and she's worked extremely hard to get back. I'm happy about her return and whatever minutes she can give me on the inside and being a strong presence, I appreciate what she can contribute."

Southeastern comes in looking to making a grandstand rally of their own to the conference tournament. The Lady Lions snapped a seven-game losing streak in their last outing when they defeated Nicholls 78-68 on Saturday. Nanna Pool went for 23 points and 22 rebounds in the win.

On the season, Pool has been a dual threat as a scorer and rebounder, ranking in the top ten in the Southland in both categories. Pool averages 14.7 points per game which leads the team. Her 8.6 rebounds per game are third most in the Southland. She also leads the team and is top five in the conference in field goal percentage (.515).

Yolanda Moore is in her second season as head coach at the program after the Lady Lions went 7-22 in her debut season. Southeastern's remaining schedule features three road contests including one against UNO and two home bouts.

The Lady Lions rank sixth in the Southland in scoring at 64.1 points per game. In conference only games, Southeastern's scoring average is 67.2 points per contest. Erica Hernandez is climbing the charts in program history in three pointers made. Currently, Hernandez sits fourth in school history with 109 triples to her credit.
