Men's Tennis Falls to Rice in First Match of Weekend

– The University of New Orleans men's tennis team (3-3) fell 4-0 on Saturday to the 33rd-ranked Rice Owls (13-4) on Saturday at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
 
Rice started out quickly at #2 and #3 doubles, taking both matches by a 6-1 count to seal the opening point of the day. Luis Albuqerque and Jeffrey Hsu put up a solid battle against the Owls' top pair of Jamie Malik and Zach Yablon. The match went unfinished tied at 4-4.
 
In singles, Rice pushed the match to 2-0 when Yablon after UNO's Karim Shokeir had to retire from the match in the first set. The Owls also picked up victories at #1 and #4 singles as Malik and Emanuel Llamas helped clinch the match for Rice.
 
Albuquerque was ahead in his match that went unfinished at #5 singles. After taking the first set 6-4 over Henrik Munch, Albuquerque also took the opening game of the second set before the match was stopped.
 
UNO will open conference play on Sunday against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
