NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans men's tennis team (6-4) swept singles action during the course of a 6-1 win over the Omaha Mavericks (7-12) on Wednesday afternoon at the University Tennis Center.

UNO faced an early deficit after losing the doubles point to start the day. The two teams split a pair of close matches as
Jeffrey Hsu and
Luis Albuquerque won 7-5 for the Privateers at No. 1. Omaha's Matt Dunn and John Ellis won at No. 3 and the Mavericks clinched the first point with a tiebreak victory at the No. 2 spot.

The Privateers turned the tide in singles though as Albuquerque,
Nicolas Kramer,
Jeffrey Hsu, and
Gonzalo Garcia each turned in straight set victories. Garcia's victory moved his singles mark to 7-2 and gave him his third straight win. Hsu won a tiebreak in the first set before blazing through the second set 6-0.

The remaining two matches were hotly contested three set battles.
Giacomo Adoncecchi and
Karim Shokeir both battled back from losing the first set. Adoncecchi came back from losing the first set of his match 6-0 to breeze past Dunn 6-2, 6-2. Shokeir rebounded from a 6-3 loss in the first set to take the next two 6-3, 6-4.

UNO will next be in action on Friday, Apr. 1 when they host Lamar. The match is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
