BOX SCORE
NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans men's tennis team (6-5, 1-2 Southland) fell 6-1 to the Lamar Cardinals (11-5, 2-0) in a match that was originally postponed due to inclement weather on Saturday morning at the University Tennis Center.
The Privateers were ahead at No. 1 doubles with
Jeffrey Hsu and
Luis Albuquerque but Lamar took care of the other two doubles matches. Lamar won at No. 2 doubles 6-3 and swept to a 6-0 victory at the No. 3 spot to take the first point.
Gonzalo Garcia secured the only point for the Privateers with a straight set victory (6-1, 6-2). Garcia is now 7-2 in singles on the season. However, Lamar took the rest of the singles matches to lock down their fifth win in the last six matches.
Hsu played a three-set match against Michael Feucht. After losing the first set 6-3, Hsu took the second set 6-4, but Feucht was able to finish off the match with a 6-1 win in the third set. The other four singles matches went in Lamar's favor in straight sets.
The next match for the Privateers will be Sunday at LSU. The match is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.
