Men's Tennis Loses Sunday Match to LSU

BOX SCORE

BATON ROUGE, La.
– The University of New Orleans men's tennis team (6-6) competed in a couple of matches, but were ultimately defeated 7-0 by the 44th-ranked LSU Tigers (12-9) on Sunday at the LSU Tennis Complex.

The Privateers lost the doubles point, by dropping matches at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles by 6-1 score lines. At No. 1 doubles, Luis Albuquerque and Jeffrey Hsu were ahead of LSU's top pair of Andrew Korinek and Boris Arias 4-3 when the match was stopped after LSU clinched the opening point.

The Tigers won five of the six singles matches in straight sets, but faced a couple of extended sets. Hsu pushed Boris Arias to a tiebreak in the first set before losing 6-3 in the second set. Nicolas Kramer rebounded from a 6-1 loss in the first set to take the second 7-6. His opponent, Tam Trinh won the third set to take the No. 5 singles match.

The other four matches went LSU's way with no Tiger losing more than six games during his respective match. LSU won after falling earlier in the day to SEC foe, Georgia.

The Privateers will next face Nicholls in Thibodaux on Friday, Apr. 8. The match is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
