NEW ORLEANS – The fall opener for the University of New Orleans men's and women's tennis clubs was full of highlights as
Brittany Johnson,
Yurina Asai and
Giacomo Adoncecchi went 2-0 in singles play to advance to the semifinals of their respective brackets Friday at the University Tennis Center. Day two of the Big Easy Tennis Classic was cancelled due to impending Tropical Storm Nate.
WOMEN'S RESULTS
SINGLES
Brittany Johnson's 2-0 mark at No. 3 and
Yurina Asai's 2-0 at No. 4 catapulted the duo to the semifinals.
Trang Dao went 1-1 in singles flight 1, defeating Ling Gu (Nicholls State University) in opening match.
Mar Gendra took her lone singles flight in the round robin
DOUBLES
Dao and
Anja Luethi came out victorious in No. 1, Johnson/
Lea Alguacil went 1-1 at No. 2 and Asai/
Ank Vullings moved to the winner's bracket before falling in the second match of the day.
MEN'S RESULTS
SINGLES
Federico Boscarino and
Alexis Guedy advanced to the second round of the winner's bracket at No. 1,
Johannes Klein did the same at No. 2 and
Giacomo Adoncecchi went 2-0 at No. 3 to move into the semifinals.
DOUBLES
Guedy and Klein went 1-1 at No. 1, and Adoncecchi/
Lorenzo Camilli and
Christian Fjeldstad/
Nicolas Kramer went 1-1 in the round robin.
