NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans men's tennis team looked continued its season-opening homestand on Friday afternoon against Loyola University of New Orleans at the University Tennis Courts, sweeping the visiting Wolf Pack 7-0.
The victory marks the second-consecutive season the Privateers have started the spring 2-0 and the third time in the past five years they managed to win back-to-back matches to kick off the campaign.
"This was probably one of the best Loyola teams we have ever played against," head coach
Burzis Kanga said. "If a couple of plays went the other way the score could have been different. Their coach has put together a great team and one that tested us. Our doubles continues to improve every match the team is starting to find its rhythm at the perfect time with a strong Southern Miss team coming here tomorrow."
New Orleans claimed the doubles point with a complete sweep, winning on courts one and two by scores of 6-3 and 6-1. The doubles pairing of sophomore
Nicolas Kramer and junior
Federico Staksrud, playing at the second position, cruised in their match against Loyola's (2-2) Maxime Rumeau and Sean Presti while the Privateers' top duo of sophomore
Jeffrey Hsu and junior
