Men's Tennis Takes On Jackson State In Non-Conference Match On Wednesday

NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans men's tennis team kicks off a three-match week on Wednesday, Mar. 29 at Jackson State in a 2 p.m. match.

New Orleans (5-7) looks to stay undefeated against Jackson State (6-8) and get their 14^th-straight victory over JSU. Last season, the Privateers bested Jackson State 6-1 with the Tigers' lone point coming from Federico Boscarino, who now plays for UNO.

"We have historically played them well, but we cannot take them lightly," head coach Burzis Kanga said. "They are the reigning SWAC champions and one of the frontrunners again this season. We have a tough week with three competitive opponents, we need a strong outing here to start this stretch off with a win."

UNO comes into the midweek match following a tough 6-1 loss at Abilene Christian. Junior Giacomo Adoncecchi leads UNO with nine victories in singles play and 13 combined victories, while fellow juniors Boscarino and Federico Staksrud both have seven victories in doubles play and 11 wins overall.

JSU enters the matchup after a successful 3-0 outing in the "SWAC Round Up 2" in Montgomery, Alabama. Over the weekend, Andrew Alawi posted five victories with two coming at the top singles flight, while Vishu Prenad went undefeated at the sixth singles flight and third doubles position for a 6-0 mark.

The Privateers return to Southland Conference play on Friday, Mar. 31 at Lamar with first serve slated for 3 p.m., followed by a home match against Texas-A&M Corpus-Christi on Sunday, Apr. 2 at 11 a.m.
