BATON ROUGE, Louisiana – The University of New Orleans men's took on LSU on Saturday afternoon, dropping a dramatic doubles point en route to a 4-0 loss to the Tigers.
In doubles play, LSU (10-15) won at the top position 6-1, but a triumph for sophomores
Jeffrey Hsu and
Nicolas Kramer at the second flight knotted up the doubles score. Senior
Luis Albuquerque and junior
Giacomo Adoncecchi went back and forth with their LSU counterparts, going into a tiebreaker point which went the Tigers' way to give them a 7-6 victory and the doubles point.
"We had opportunities to win the doubles point," head coach
Burzis Kanga said. "I think that was the decider in the match, winning it could have changed the outcome. Overall, I think this was one of the best outings I have seen us have against LSU."
In singles play, the Tigers won straight-set wins on courts six and two, while Kramer lost in a three-set match 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 to end the contest.
Up next for New Orleans (7-11) is the Southland Conference Championships, played in Beaumont, Texas, which begins on Friday, April 28.
