MATCHES 15-16: Volleyball Set to Battle Bearkats on ESPN Thursday, Wildcats Saturday

New Orleans is 1-1 in Southland Conference play

HUNTSVILLE, Texas – The University of New Orleans (7-7, 1-1 Southland) hits the road for the first road Southland Conference matches of its season, beginning at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum Thursday at 6:26 p.m. when the Privateers take on Sam Houston State University (5-9, 2-0 Southland). The match will be streamed on ESPN3 and can be watched by using the Watch ESPN app or by visiting ESPN.com. Two days later, the Privateers head to Moody Coliseum to take on Abilene Christian University (4-10, 0-2 Southland) Saturday at 2 p.m.

Kaitlyn Grice is second in the Southland Conference in hitting percentage and blocks per set. Grice averages 1.24 blocks/set and is hitting .340. She averages 2.07 kills – second most on the team behind Blessing Dunn – and leads the club in blocks. Dunn's 2.23 kills/set and 3.05 digs/set are most on UNO and her 15 service aces tied Lane Hindenburg for the team lead. Splitting time between two setters, Manela Grau (6.88 assists/set) and Sarah Thomas (4.44 assists/set), Kyra Hunter, Hindenburg and Rondolyn Bryant average over 1.50 kills/set.
 
ABOUT THE KATS
Sam Houston State is led by Jordyn Vaughn, who also leads the league in kills per set (3.57). The Bobkats are coming off a sweep of Nicholls State University Tuesday and boast a 12-1 record all-time versus the Privateers. New Orleans' lone victory over Sam Houston came in 2015.
 
ABOUT THE WILDCATS
Abilene Christian is searching for its first home and conference win of the season. The Wildcats host Southeastern Louisiana University Thursday prior to New Orleans rolling into town. ACU leads the Southland with 2.48 blocks per set.
