Box Score Tallahassee, Fla. – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team (2-2) lost the doubles point in a thin margin and were swept in singles as part of a 7-0 loss to the Liberty Flames on Friday afternoon at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center.
The Privateers were in tight contests at the number two and three spots in doubles.
Nicolas Kramer and
Christian Fjeldstad were defeated in a 7-5 bout. That was the deciding point in doubles as Liberty also won 6-2 at number one doubles.
Giacomo Adoncecchi and
Lorenzo Camilli were in a tiebreak at 6-6 when the doubles point was decided.
"We were in control in doubles and we let it get away," said Coach
Burzis Kanga. "It's a disheartening result but we have to move forward and get ready for Florida State on Saturday."
In sinlges, the Privateers pushed to three sets at number two and four singles. The Flames won the rest of the matches in straight sets. Adoncecchi dominated his first set 6-1, but was narrowly beaten 6-4, 6-4 in the next two sets.
Johannes Klein also won his first set 6-1, but was defeated as well in three sets to decide the match.
The Privateers will next face 16
th-ranked Florida State on Saturday at 1 p.m.
