GAME 24: MBB Poised to Spoil TAMUCC Homecoming Saturday on ESPN3

Privateers have six games remaining in regular season

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – With the toughest schedule remaining in the Southland Conference, the University of New Orleans (12-11, 9-3 Southland) visit streaking Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (8-13, 5-6 Southland) Saturday at 7 p.m. at American Bank Center.
 
The game will be streamed live on ESPN3 and WatchESPN. David Saltzman and Van Chancellor have the call with Mike Watts producing the show.

TIP-OFF
• The Privateers return to the hardwood Saturday looking to sweep the Islanders at American Bank Center Saturday at 7 p.m.
• The game will be streamed on ESPN and WatchESPN. New Orleans won its last two TV games (UIW).
Travin Thibodeaux has 10 20-point games this season and has reached double figures in 16 consecutive games.
• His 55.6 percent shooting is tops in the league and his 16.8 points per game are fourth.
• Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Joseph Kilgore is third in scoring at 17.0 points per game.
Bryson Robinson is scoring 9.1 points per game after his 22 points off the bench in last week's loss to Nicholls.
Makur Puou was inserted back into the starting lineup and the senior is averaging 8.3 points and 5.2 rebounds this season.
Troy Green, Michael Zeno and Ezekiel Charles are also averaging 6.0+ points per game.
• Zeke leads the club and conference in three-point shooting, knocking down his triples at a 47.9 percent rate.
• Next up is the first of two games versus Southeastern Louisiana. The Privateers head to the Lions on Valentine's Day in the middle of its Homecoming Week.
ABOUT NEW ORLEANS
The Privateers are in a three-way tie for second place in the Southland Conference with seven games remaining in the regular season. Three of the final six games are against those two clubs they are tied with - Southeastern Louisiana and Sam Houston State.

Travin Thibodeaux is the league's leader in shooting, knocking down 55.6 percent of his shots and Ezekiel Charles is atop the three-point charts at just under 50.0 percent.

ABOUT TEXAS A&M-CORPUS CHRISTI
Joseph Kilgore leads the team in nearly every statistical category as the Islanders end the week hosting the Privateers on ESPN3.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi fell to Sam Houston State Wednesday and is 6-3 at home this season. Hot of late, the Islanders have won four of their last five games.

The Privateers won the earlier matchup this season 61-55 to improve to 9-7 all-time against the Ders.

DOWN THE STRETCH
The Privateers have the toughest schedule to close out Southland play, with four of their six remaining games against the top of the Southland Conference (Nicholls, Southeastern Louisiana x2 and Sam Houston State).

New Orleans will have four of those games on the road including Saturday's bout at the American Bank Center.

DEFEND THE LAKEFRONT
New Orleans is 8-2 at Lakefront Arena with just two home games remaining this season. The Privateers will host McNeese on Homecoming Day February 17. The game is also senior day for five seniors - Matthew Jiles, Jorge Rosa, Michael Zeno, Makur Puou and Travin Thibodeaux. The regular season concludes with the Privateers playing host to Southeastern Louisiana February 28.

BATTLE OF THE TOP
Louisiana is home of three of the top four teams in the Southland - specifically the short bus trip around New Orleans in Nicholls and Southeastern Louisiana.

DOUBLE DIGIT STRETCH FOR THIBODEAUX
Travin Thibodeaux is putting together his best offensive season as a Privateer. The Plaquemine native entered with zero 20 point games in three seasons and has 10 in 2017-18. The senior has reached double figures in 16 consecutive games.
