Dao, Gendra, Kramer Pick up Singles Win

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The University of New Orleans women (8-8, 2-5 Southland) picked up two singles wins and the men (4-9, 0-4 Southland) took No. 5 but Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (10-6, 5-1 Southland in women; 17-7, 2-0 Southland in men) defeated the Privateers 5-2 (women) and 6-1 (men) Friday afternoon at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.
 
WOMEN
Mar Gendra and Trang Dao went back-to-back in terms of finishes with wins in flights No. 6 and No. 1, respectively. Gendra upended Maria Maldonado, who entered with an 18-3 record a season ago, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5. Captain Hortense Boscher also fell victim to UNO as Dao was victorious in the top flight 6-1, 3-6, 6-3. However, the defending Southland Conference champions won the match 5-2.
 
MEN
Nicolas Kramer took singles No. 5, 6-4, 7-6 (10-7) but the Islanders took the lone meeting this season 6-1.
 
NEXT UP
The clubs remain in South Texas to face the University of the Incarnate Word. The women take on the Cardinals tomorrow at noon while the men are scheduled for Monday.
