New Orleans - The 2018 spring campaign will close for the New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team when they take on the LSU Tigers on Friday. The match is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start and will be hosted at the LSU Tennis Complex.
New Orleans' last match was a 4-1 loss at home to Troy. By the time the Privateers hit the court again, it will have been 12 days since that match.
Nicolas Kramer picked up the lone point against the Trojans with a straight set victory at flight five.
Entering the final match of the season,
Alexis Guedy and Kramer co-lead the team in singles wins with seven. Guedy, in his freshman season, has picked up five of his wins at flight two. Kramer has won three matches each at flights four and five.
The Privateers will have one more shot for a road win when they take on the Tigers. The Privateers are 0-6 in true road matches this spring and 0-1 in neutral site matches. New Orleans finished their home slate with a 4-5 record.
LSU has posted just a 2-10 record in SEC play. Overall, the Tigers are 9-15. They enter Friday's match having lost 10 of their last 11. The Tigers' only win in that stretch was a narrow 4-3 victory over Auburn on Apr. 13. LSU will also close down their regular season with Friday's match. The Tigers are 1-0 against Southland competition thanks to a 7-0 win over Nicholls.
The Tigers have just one senior on the squad in Gabor Csonka. Of the remaining six players on the roster, there are three sophomores and one freshman. Csonka has alternated between flight one and two for the Tigers. Junior, Shane Monroe transferred from BYU and has also played flight one singles for LSU.
