Men's Tennis Will Take on Troy on Senior Day

New Orleans - The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team (4-11) will play their home finale on Sunday when they face the Troy Trojans at the University Tennis Center. The match is scheduled for an 11 a.m. start and will serve as Senior Day.

New Orleans has two seniors on the roster: Giacomo Adoncecchi and Federico Boscarino. Adoncecchi has won 30 career singles matches entering his final match on the Lakefront. Boscarino has been with the Privateers for two seasons after transferring from Jackson State.

"Giacomo has been with me for four years and he played his position really well," said Coach Burzis Kanga. "I think on any given day he could play with a lot of players. He was a good team player and a fighter on the court. Federico is a talented player and he won some key matches for us especially last season."

The Privateers will look to end the season on a high note with two matches remaining. Their originally scheduled Saturday bout against Rice was cancelled due to impending inclement weather. Following Sunday, New Orleans will close down the regular season with a road trip to Baton Rouge to face the LSU Tigers.

On the season, Alexis Guedy leads the Privateers in singles wins with seven. Adoncecchi and Nicolas Kramer follow closely behind with six each. The Privateers are in the midst of an eight-match losing skid that dates back to Mar. 11.

Troy (10-9) has started to pick up steam as of late. The Trojans have won five of their last six and most in dominating fashion. They have not conceded more than one point in their winning stretch. The only loss in that span was to William & Mary.

Pelayo Antuna leads the Trojans in singles wins with nine this spring. Antuna has played at least one match across five different flights. Jiaqi Duan and Andy Lau have seven singles wins each entering the weekend. The Trojans have used 22 different doubles combinations. The most consistently used tandem is Antuna and Duan who are 6-9 this spring.
