TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team finished the weekend at 1-2 after falling 4-0 to the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns to close out their weekend at the Florida State Spring Invitational.

The Cajuns put their stamp on the match early after securing wins at flight two and three to earn the doubles point. On both courts, Louisiana won by a 6-2 score. The Cajuns were also ahead 5-1 in flight one doubles.

Singles play became more closely contested in some spots, but the Cajuns had wins at the first fourth, and fifth flights. Elio Lago was up 3-0 in the first set on
Johannes Klein who had to retire from the match due to illness. Marko Vujic followed with a straight set victory of his own.

The clinching point was earned when Jan Galka defeated
Misha Fomenkov in straight sets to give the Cajuns a fifth place finish in the tournament.

The matches that went unfinished were hanging in the balance.
Mats Westkamp lost the first set of his singles match in a tiebreak, but was dominating the second set, leading 5-1 over Pearse Dolan. In flight six,
Nicolas Kramer bounced back from losing the first set to win the second 6-3.

At flight three,
Odysseas Papaioannou was up a break at 5-3 in the second set after losing his first set 6-4 to Arthur Libaud.

"It was a tough match," said Coach
Burzis Kanga. "Johannes and Misha were sick but we gave them a fight. We were outplayed in doubles but we were in the match in singles. We're not going to make any excuses. We're just going to work as hard as we can and get ready for going to LSU."

NEXT UP
New Orleans will be back on the court in two weeks when they travel to Baton Rouge for the Jerry Simmons Invitational at LSU. The tournament starts on Saturday, Jan. 26 and runs over two days at the LSU Tennis Complex.
