AUBURN, Ala. – Both New Orleans Privateers men's tennis doubles teams advanced through the first round of the doubles draw at the ITA Southern Regional on Friday at Yarbrough Tennis Center.
The doubles format is the first to eight games in one set.
Austin Vos and
Mats Westkamp got the afternoon going for the Privateers.
Vos and Westkamp defeated Alabama State's Chris Andre and Juan Rodriguez 8-4. The duo will take on Avi Shugar and Sam Fischer of Alabama who had a bye in the first round.
Johannes Klein and
Misha Fomenkov also turned in a solid effort in their first round. They took down Jahub/Gilheany of Louisiana 8-5 to advance to the second round. They will face Lukas Englehardt and Nikola Slavic of Ole Miss who also had a first round bye.
The doubles draw continues on Saturday with the second and third round of doubles. The action gets going at 8 a.m.
