NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team has added another student-athlete to the fold for 2020 in Germany native, Max Heinzel. He will be eligible to compete when the Privateers ramp up their spring season in January.
Heinzel comes to the Privateers by way of Augsburg and will be the fourth German student-athlete on the roster.
The list of accomplishments and rankings achieved by Heinzel is already substantial. At the moment, he is ranked in the top 300 among men's ranking and he's also achieved a top 50 ranking among juniors in Germany.
His latest tournament encompassed a run to a semifinal in the second highest category at the Krumbacher Hallen - Cup. Heinzel also made the final of an under-21 tournament in 2019 at the Augsburger Dunlop Nachwuchs Open. He also owns a win over a top 70 ranked player in Germany with an ATP ranking of 550.
COACH KANGA ON HEINZEL:
"Max will make an immediate difference in our quest for a championship. His game style is favorable on the hard courts. He brings a big serve and forehand."
