New Orleans- Fresh off perhaps the most rewarding win of the season, the University of New Orleans women's basketball team embarks on the first of a four-game road trip, Wednesday, Feb. 20, in Hammond, Louisiana against the Lady Lions of Southeastern Louisiana University (9-15, 4-9 Southland). Tipoff is 7 p. m.

New Orleans (9-13, 5-8 Southland), fought back from a 19-point, third quarter deficit to defeat Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last Saturday, 56-54. In the final 16 minutes and 41 seconds of the game, UNO outscored the Islanders 40-19, holding them to 26.7% shooting in the final period as junior center

Rehema Franklin, who came off the bench for a career and team-high 16 points in only 21 minutes of action. The junior from New Orleans exceeded her previous career-high at UNO of 13 points in a loss to Nicholls Feb. 9.

Shania Woods is 9
th in the conference in scoring (14.6), 2
nd in rebounds (8.6) and 7
th in field goal percentage (48%). From Houston, Texas, Woods is 10
th all-time among scorers in UNO basketball history with 1,160 points. Â She needs only 8 rebounds to move into the number three spot among rebounders in program history, surpassing Dollene Magee (1981-85) who sits at 814 rebounds.

Whitley Larry has blocked 44 shots this season, second-best in the Southland Conference for an average of 1.9 a contest.  Her teammate,
Kayla Thomas, the Sophomore from Philadelphia, Penn. is third with 30 total and 1.3 a game.

The Lady Lions are in the midst of a 3-game losing streak after losing a 17-point lead in the loss to McNeese. SLU got a career-high 23 points from Jaclyn Scholvin and 21 from Charliee Dugas.

Junior guard Celica Sterling leads the club in scoring at 14.6 a game and Scholvin, a senior guard from Mandeville, Louisiana, is next averaging 10.3 a contest. Sophomore forward Caitlyn Williams leads the Lady Lions in rebounding pulling down 7.7 a contest.

"Coach Guzzardo and her staff have worked hard to turn Southeastern's progam around. I feel like they are more of a team now. This year they have more involvement and anybody can step up and go off on any given night," said New Orleans head coach
