GAME 26: 10-4 Privateers Look for Series Sweep in Lake Charles Saturday

LAKE CHARLES, La. – With four games remaining in the Southland Conference regular season, No. 3 New Orleans (15-10, 10-4 Southland) looks for its seventh win in eight games Saturday at the new H&HP Arena versus McNeese (8-18, 4-9 Southland). Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
 
TIP OFF
• A victory clinches a spot in the 2019 Southland Conference Tournament.
• The 10-4 Privateers look for the series sweep over McNeese for the third consecutive season.
• New Orleans defeated the Cowboys 79-66 at home on January 12.
• In Wednesday's blowout victory over Southeastern Louisiana, UNO connected on 14 triples, tying for the second most in a single game.
• The total was one away from tying the program mark (15 vs. North Texas in 2001).
Bryson Robinson posted 23 points on 6-of-8 shooting and the junior went 5-of-7 from long distance.
Jorge Rosa added 18 points and five rebounds. The senior was 6-of-9 from three-point range.
Jahmel Myers came off the bench with 11 points on 5-of-5 shooting.
Gerrale Gates set a season-high with 10 rebounds and two blocked shots.
Damion Rosser dished out six assists and leads the team in steals and assists.
Scott Plaisance Jr. was 6-of-7 from the field with 15 points in 20 minutes of action.
• New Orleans is 8-0 when scoring 80+ points and shot 60.4 percent from the field.
• It was the best field goal percentage since January 26, 2015 (vs. Central Arkansas).
• UNO is 4-8 this season away from Lakefront Arena.
• The Cowboys are 4-6 in the new H&HP Arena.

ABOUT THE PRIVATEERS
Without its leading scorer and one of the conferences leading three-point shooters, New Orleans recorded its best shooting performance in over three seasons, going 29-of-48 overall and 14-of-23 from long distance in Wednesday's 89-68 win over Southeastern Louisiana.
 
Bryson Robinson posted his fourth 20+ point game this season with 23 points on 6-of-8 shooting (5-of-7 from three-point range). Jorge Rosa went 6-of-9 from 3FG with 18 points and five rebounds. Gerrale Gates' 10 rebounds marked the fourth time a UNO player pulled down double digit rebounds.
 
ABOUT THE COWBOYS
A seven-man rotation led by Sha'markus Kennedy, McNeese is coming off an 83-75 overtime victory over Central Arkansas. Kennedy led with 26 points and Jarren Greenwood posted a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. 
 
THE SERIES
New Orleans leads the series 13-7 with a five-game win streak vs. the Cowboys heading into the weekend.

THIRD PLACE
Seeding always plays a big part and with five regular season games remaining, the Privateers sit in third place in the Southland at 10-4, behind Abilene Christian (10-3) and Sam Houston State (13-1). The Bearkats enter Lakefront Arena Feb. 27.
 
UNDER SLESS
Since joining the Southland Conference, the Privateers are 54-50 in league play.
 
BERZAT IS BACK
Lamont Berzat made his return to the Privateers. Berzat missed two months due to injury and participated in four minutes.

Bryson Robinson posted a team-high 23 points in Wednesday's 89-68 win over Southeastern Louisiana. It was his fourth 20+ point game this season. In his third start of the season, Jorge Rosa posted a career-high 18 points - all from three-point range.

Head coach Mark Slessinger said the club is as balanced offensively as any team in the conference. New Orleans is 9-0 when four or more players reached double figures.
 
REACH 70? IT'S ALL UNO
New Orleans will look to continue to surpass the 70-point plateau. When the Privateers score 70 or more points, they are 12-2.
 
PRIVATEERS IN DOUBLEHEADERS
Men's basketball is 5-2 in 2018-19 when playing immediately after the women.
