Box Score NEW ORLEANS -Â The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team won a tightly contested doubles point and dominated singles on the way to a 6-1 victory over the Loyola Wolfpack on Saturday at the University Tennis Center.

Mats Westkamp and
Misha Fomenkov broke serve while ahead 3-2. After a hold of serve, the Privateers' top duo broke again to easily take a 6-2 decision. The other two courts came down to tiebreaks that were decided within minutes.
"Give credit where it's due," said Coach Burzis Kanga. "This is a very improved Loyola team. We regrouped to win the doubles point and overall I was pleased with our performance in singles across the board."

Johannes Klein and
Samuel Armand were locked in a tiebreak when they earned the first five points to provide the cushion needed. Klein and Armand held their own serve to win the tiebreak 7-2 and secure the doubles point.
Odysseas Papaioannou and
Nicolas Kramer rallied back from a 4-1 deficit to force a tiebreak that they won 7-3.

In singles, the Privateers' top two flights dominated their respective matches. Fomenkov took a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Tiger Cheung. Westkamp did not concede a game in a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Galileo Cabales. The Privateers led 3-0 and the match was decided on the next bout to finish.

At flight four, Klein defeated Alex DePascual 6-1, 6-2 to give the Privateers their fifth win of the spring. It was his fourth victory of the season, which co-leads the team going into their Sunday battle against Prairie View A&M.

Papaioannou and Armand also won singles matches for the Privateers. Papaioannou took care of his match at flight six in straight sets. Armand was locked in a tight battle against Erensto Telles but prevailed 10-8 in the third set.

The Wolfpack won their point at flight three when Sam Marin won in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.

New Orleans will take on Prairie View A&M at 10 a.m. on Sunday at the University Tennis Center.
