Men's Tennis: Kramer to be Honored on Senior Day vs. Islanders

NEW ORLEANSNicolas Kramer will be honored on Senior Day as the New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team (7-13, 1-3) closes out their home schedule against the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders on Saturday. The match is scheduled for a 12 p.m. start.

Kramer has been with the Privateers for four seasons and has accomplished a lot on the court and in the classroom in that span. The Germany native has gone over 20 wins in singles and in doubles for his career. Academically, Kramer is a two-time Southland All Academic selection. He made the First Team as a junior (2018).

"Nico is one of the most intelligent, dedicated young men that I've coached in my tennis career," said Coach Burzis Kanga. "He is the consummate dream player and I can't say enough good things about him. He is also the epitome of class and I don't think anyone could ever dispute any of that. In his time here, he has earned the highest respect and there couldn't be a better ambassador to this university."

The Privateers head into their final conference match of the season while two teams including Texas A&M-CC have only played two of their five conference bouts. Currently, the Privateers are fifth in the Southland standings.

Johannes Klein and Odysseas Papaioannou both picked up their eighth singles wins against Nicholls. That mark co-leads the team. Klein and Samuel Armand have been a dangerous doubles tandem for opponents, sporting an 11-6 record.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (14-8, 1-1) will play their last three matches in the next five days. The Islanders have Nicholls on Friday before coming to the Big Easy. They'll close the season at home against Lamar next Wednesday. Their last match was a 4-3 win over UIW on Apr. 9. Kyohei Yamanaka won in three sets at flight six to give the Islanders the deciding point.

Three Islanders have crested the 10-win mark this spring: Carlos Pedrosa, Thibault Frumholz, and William Mottet.
