NEW ORLEANS – University of New Orleans head coach
Jeff Lorio announced the signing of
Thomas Artigas Friday. Artigas is a native of Alicante, Spain.
A member of national teams since the age of 13, Artigas has won 12 international championships.
In 2018, Artigas was awarded the best junior athlete in the province of Alicante after a third-place finish at the world championships.
"I am extremely excited about the addition of Thomas," said Lorio. "Thomas has a very strong resume of national and international competitions. He has represented his country on national teams and his numerous international victories shows how great of a competitor he is. He has what it takes to win at a high level."
Added Lorio: "Thomas is a prince of a kid. It's an absolute pleasure getting to know him throughout the recruiting process and we cannot wait to get him on campus in August."
