NEW ORLEANS – After the opening two rounds of the Southland Conference Championship, all four scoring University of New Orleans golfers sit in the top 25. UNO tallied a first-round score of 298 and a second-round score of 293 to sit in fifth place at
the close of play on Tuesday evening.
New Orleans got off to a hot start and sat in second place at 2-under par on Monday at Comanche Trace. Unfortunately, steady rain and lightning in the Kerrville area ended their time on the course on Monday after just three holes.
Garrett Trahan is tied for ninth with three others after carding a 144. Garrett's best stretch of play was 2-under par during the opening nine holes of the second round. "Big Red" made three of his six total birdies during that front nine.
Max Feistmantl and
Matthew Lotz are both tied for 14th with scores of 148. Feistmantl led UNO with seven birdies during the first two rounds, and Lotz had the best round by a Privateer, shooting a 1-under-par 71 in the second round.
Tom Watson is tied for 21st with a score of 149. The Liverpudlian was at par or better on 13 of his final 14 holes on Tuesday afternoon.
Adam Trahan shot a 78 in the opening round before being replaced by Taylor Broadway, who shot a 79 in the second round on Tuesday afternoon.
The final round of the Southland Conference Championship will air on ESPN+ on Wednesday and gets underway for the Privateers at 10:45 a.m., with
Adam Trahan getting the first swing of the day for UNO. He will be followed by Watson at 10:54 a.m., Feistmantl at 11:03 a.m., Lotz at 11:12 a.m., and
Garrett Trahan at 11:21 a.m. The Privateers are paired with HCU and Southeastern on Wednesday.
