Max Hellstrom Named First Team All-Academic By Southland

FULL SOUTHLAND CONFERENCE RELEASE

NEW ORLEANS - Junior golfer Max Hellstrom received yet another postseason honor on Monday morning after being named First Team All-Academic by the Southland Conference office.

While earning a perfect 4.0 in the fall and a cumulative grade point average of 3.88 for the year Max lead the Privateers in stroke average over the course of the course of the season and finished the year ranked the No. 15 golfer in the Southland Conference on Golftstat.

The Stockholm native finished his junior year with five finishes inside the top 20, and a pair of top 10 finishes before a fifth-place finish at the Southland Championships. For his efforts Hellstrom was also named Third Team All-Southland.

"Max had a great year. He was incredibly consistent from the opening tournament through the Southland Championships. He is a tremendous leader and without question is the hardest worker I have ever coached."

The recipients represent the truest meaning of what a student-athlete should be – young men who excel in both on the course and in the classroom - he has worked extremely hard in the classroom this year and I couldn't be more proud of him."

NOTES
The Privateer Golf program has now made back-to-back-to back appearances on the Southland Conference's All-Academic team following Homero de Toledo's second-team appearance last season and Markus Krieger's selection in 2016-17.
