Brianna Vega is coming off her best statistical year as she leads a group of outside hitters into the 2019 New Orleans Privateers volleyball season. Vega is one of three seniors, and enters her fourth and final season on the Lakefront.
Â
Vega averaged 1.74 kills and 1.18 digs per set over her first two seasons. Last year, those numbers jumped to 2.16 kills and 1.94 digs per set. Vega also finished the 2018 campaign with 52 total blocks. Vega had three double-doubles last year and nine matches with at least 10 kills.
Â
The service game for the San Antonio native was also tough on opponents as evidenced by her finishing in the top ten in aces per set. Last year, Vega achieved a match high in kills with 20 in the Privateers' opening conference match against HBU.
Â
Joining Vega on the left side this year are a pair of newcomers: a freshman from the Rocky Mountains and a junior transfer from the West Coast.
Â
Trinity Jackson (Colorado Springs, Colo.) is one of seven freshmen on the Privateers' roster. Jackson prepped at Lewis Palmer HS where she was a part of two state championship winning teams. She was a First Team All-Conference and All-State selection and won Newcomer of the Year with her club team, Colorado Juniors.
Â
Also part of the contingent is
Chloe Hampton who transferred to the Privateers from Feather River CC. The Californian averaged 3.56 kills per set last year at Feather River. She went for a season-high 24 kills in against Gavilan and hit .409 versus conference opponents. Hampton played for Saint Joseph Notre Dame HS where she was First Team All-League as a senior.
