Privateers Post 3.041 Fall Semester GPA

NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans student-athletes shined in the classroom during the Fall Semester with 108 student-athletes earning GPAs of 3.0 or higher and an overall athletics GPA of 3.041.
 
Fourteen student-athletes were perfect with 4.0s and eight programs averaged 3.0+.
 
"I am extremely proud of the Privateer student-athletes that achieved above a 3.0 grade point average this term," said Tim Duncan, Director of Athletics. "It's the fifth time out of the last six semesters the athletic department does so."
 
DUNCAN ON ACADEMICS
"When evaluating the opportunity to lead this department, one of the key factors was its academic prowess. I believe we have a great support system and would like to acknowledge the leadership of Dr. (John) Nicklow. Additionally, our success would not be possible without the collaboration of our coaches and the academic support staff led by Kirsten Elleby, Associate Athletic Director for Student Services/Senior Woman Administrator, her team of academic advisors who work daily to connect with each student-athlete, the Athletic Advisory Council led by Faculty Athletic Representative Dr. Matt Zingoni, and the Office of the Provost."

Contributing to the great student effort was the rest of the Student-Athlete Enrichment department which includes DeJeune Green, Jacqueline Taylor, Clayton O'Callaghan and graduate assistant Ezekiel Charles.
 
OVERALL
Women's tennis led the way with a 3.693 GPA and on the men's side, tennis received a 3.517 GPA. Below is a breakdown.


 
The 108 student-athletes will be honored at halftime of the men's basketball game on Saturday, January 18 at Lakefront Arena. It will be Academic Honors Night with the women tipping off at 4 p.m. and the men following at 6 p.m.
