NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans men's and women's basketball programs will be featured on their own special Southland Conference Media Day throughout the conference's social media channels and website on Friday, Nov. 13 as part of the 2020 Southland Basketball Tip-Off initiative.
The day will be cut in half, as the Privateer women will be featured from 9 AM CT through noon and the men's takeover will run from 1 to 4 PM CT.
Each team's takeover will feature a most up-to-date schedule release, a player spotlight and two team fun facts. They will conclude with a interview with each program's respective leader,
Mark Slessinger and
Keeshawn Davenport.
The media day will also feature an Instagram takeover on the Southland account as sophomore guard
Mia Deck and junior guard and UNO Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) President
Damion Rosser give you a behind the scenes look at the life of a student-athlete at the University of New Orleans.
"We are extremely excited to get underway with basketball season on Nov. 25," Southland Assistant Communications Director Zack Chavez said. "Obviously, we were confronted with the task of thinking outside of the box in order to conduct a media day opportunity for our schools this year. With that being said, we felt that dedicating one day to each institution would be a terrific opportunity to highlight programs, talents and personalities of our student-athletes both on and off of the court."
