NEW ORLEANS – The start of the 2020 spring beach volleyball and golf seasons highlight a week full of New Orleans Athletics events, all on the road.
BASEBALL
It's a four-game week on the road for the Privateers (1-2). They will face Southern Miss on Tuesday in Hattiesburg before traveling to Arkansas State for a weekend series starting Friday. First pitch for the Southern Miss game is at 6 p.m.
NOTES
- Privateer starters (
Chris Turpin,
Bailey Holstein, and
Brandon Mitchell) combined for 16.0 innings pitched and just two earned runs allowed. The trio collectively recorded 18 strikeouts to four walks.

Luther Woullard had his second four-hit game as a Privateer against Prairie View. The other came Feb. 22, 2019 vs. Chicago State.

Eric Orze made his return to the mound in the season opener. Orze had not pitched since April 29, 2018 prior to his appearance against Southern. He battled and defeated cancer in that time.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
After a successful 2-0 homestand, the New Orleans women's basketball team will hit the road for their next three contests, one of which will take place this week.
The Privateers have an upcoming bye on Wednesday, which means the next time the squad will suit up will be with their road trip out to McNeese on Saturday Feb. 22. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. at the H&PE Arena.
The program already has 10 conference wins so far this campaign, the most since the squad won 11 during the 2017-18 season.
Asia Woods was just named the Southland Conference Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week after she posted averages of 19 points on 62.5 percent shooting, 12 rebounds and five assists over the perfect 2-0 week.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
The second bye of the season keeps the Privateers idle Wednesday before the rematch against McNeese Saturday at 3:30 p.m. New Orleans dropped the first meeting against the Cowboys in January, but the Privateers took last season's inaugural game at the new H&PE Arena.
Bryson Robinson is tied for second in single-season program history with 74 three-pointers. He is 11 triples away from tying
James Parlow for tops in a season on the Lakefront.
TRACK & FIELD
The men's and women's track & field program will conclude their indoor regular season with the LSU Twilight on Friday, Feb. 21. The field portion of the schedule will get underway at 11:30 a.m. while the track events will hit the line beginning at 2 p.m.

The team has continued to take strides every meet this season as the Privateers have their eyes on the Southland Indoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday, March 1 – Monday, March 2 in Birmingham, Ala.
BEACH VOLLEYBALL
The Privateers take on Southern Miss in two matches on Saturday. Twins

Victoria Corcorcan will take over the @NCAAVolleyball Instagram throughout Saturday. New Orleans won its most matches (15) and
Veronica Corcoran and
Rachel Kuhn set a pair record at the top spot with 21 victories.
MEN'S TENNIS
The Privateers men's tennis team will have two matches in Mississippi this week. New Orleans will take on Mississippi College (Wednesday at 1 p.m.) and Delta State (Thursday at 11 a.m.). They then return home to face Southern Miss on Saturday, Feb. 22.

Johannes Klein co-lead the team in singles victories. Both have notched four triumphs.
- After this week, the Privateers are back home for eight straight and nine of their next ten matches.

Max Heinzel is 4-2 between singles and doubles this season. He extended his LSU singles opponent, Boris Kozlov to three sets on Saturday.
