OFFICIAL SOUTHLAND RELEASE
NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans track and field/cross country program was represented by 10 student-athletes on the Southland Conference All-Academic Team on Friday afternoon.
The Privateer men who earned a spot were
Mason Appleton,
Daryl Bachmann,
Antonio Delgado,
Olamipo Ladipo and
Jose Manuel Rodriguez. On the women's side,
Alexa Daverio,
Christina Davis,
London Parker,
Anais Sulpice and
Agathe Tronchon were selected.
Sulpice earned her master's degree in finance with a 4.0 grade point average during her two semesters on the Lakefront. Appleton and Delgado earned degrees in biological sciences and business administration, respectively. Appleton finished his four years at UNO with a 3.84 GPA, while Delgado completed his four years at UNO with a 3.71 GPA.

Alexa Daverio and sophomore
London Parker also had perfect 4.0's while pursuing degrees in business administration and biological sciences. Tronchon, a sophomore hurdler, was not far behind with a 3.96 GPA while pursuing her degree in international studies.
NCAA regional participants Bachmann and Ladipo earned GPAs of 3.93 and 3.50, respectively. Bachmann is working toward a degree in marketing, while Ladipo is majoring in interdisciplinary studies.
Rodriguez has a 3.60 GPA while pursuing a degree in psychology, and Davis has a 3.58 GPA while pursuing a degree in marketing.
Placement on a Southland Conference All-Academic Team is earned by maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 or higher and participating in at least 50% of a program's games, matches or meets. Student-athletes also must have completed one semester at their institution before their sport's championship. Each team is limited to five selections.
Since joining the league for the 2013-14 school year, the track and field/cross country program has placed 49 student-athletes on the Southland's All-Academic Track and Field Team — 26 men and 23 women.
In addition to the All-Academic teams, the league office announced its track and field Student-Athletes of the Year on Friday afternoon. Ashton Rainey of Lamar (women's indoor), Romi Griese of East Texas A&M (women's outdoor), Kyle Loweth of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (men's indoor) and Samson Black of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (men's outdoor) were selected.
