NEW ORLEANS - The New Orleans Privateers dominated doubles and were ahead in singles against the Northern Illinois Huskies when a rain shower struck, cancelling the match. It will not be completed.
The Privateers had a strong performance in doubles which started with
Austin Vos and
Mats Westkamp. After a service hold at 40-all, the Privateers' flight one duo took the next five games for a 6-0 victory.
Max Heinzel and
Espen Lagarde also finished off a solid performance in doubles with a 6-2 win at flight two.
Misha Fomenkov and
Johannes Klein were two points away from victory at flight three with a 5-2 lead.
New Orleans took five of the six first sets in singles. Westkamp won 6-1 at flight one. Fomenkov took his first set by a double break at 6-2. Heinzel jumped out to a 5-2 lead and won his first set 6-4. Klein and Lagarde also won the first set. Each second set was tight with Northern Illinois up a break on three courts when the rain came.Â
The men's team will be back in action on Monday, Mar. 16 against Colgate at 2 p.m.
