COVINGTON, La. – Veronica Corcoran and
Lucie Pokorna moved to 7-1 on the year with two victories at the top flight Friday at Digs Volleyball Complex. New Orleans (6-2) split day one of the New Orleans Invitational, blanking Texas A&M-Kingsville (6-2) 5-0 before falling to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (3-3) 3-2.
The top duo is coming off earning Southland Pair of the Week and have now won five consecutive matches. Also victorious in both contests were
Maxine Walsh and
Trinity Jackson, who moved to 4-3 overall and 2-0 at No. 5.

The Privateers began with a 21-15, 21-17 victory at No. 5 as Jackson and Walsh downed the Javelinas. Hampton and Spartz erased a set one loss (21-15) to put UNO in front 2-0 with a 21-18, 15-10 three-set thriller.
The Privateers clinched the win at the top with Pokorna and
Veronica Corcoran taking the flight 21-10, 21-14.
For good measure, Carr and
Victoria Corcoran were victorious at No. 2 21-15, 21-18 and Vega and Kuhn took No. 3 21-19, 22-20.

The Privateers jumped out to a 1-0 lead following Walsh and Jackson's come from behind victory at No. 5.
Veronica Corcoran and Pokorna took the top flight 21-16, 21-17 to tie the match at 2-all while the No. 3s went to the third for a winner take all set.
Kuhn and Vega moved to the third set with a 24-22 win in the second set to force the decisive No. 3.
A&M-Corpus Christi closed out with a victory to go to 3-3 on the year.
