Men's Tennis Signs Luke Joujan

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team has had quite the recruiting pipeline from Germany. That continued with the announcement of Luke Joujan signing with the program.

Joujan, who hails from Hamburg, Germany comes in with high rankings. In a very competitive nation, Luke is ranked in the top 200 at #179. He also achieved a top 25 ranking at the junior level. Joujan plays club level for Uhlenhorster.

The newest member of the squad said "I'm excited to be a Privateer."

FROM COACH KANGA
"I think he's going to be a great addition to our program. He comes from a strong background and he'll certainly be a player who will have a solid presence on our team."

"Luke is a very clever player and based on everything I've seen, he's quick and has a big game as well. He has a great ranking and he is someone who can make an immediate impact."

Among notable tournament results, Joujan won the Kieler Open. He also reached the final at the TempelTGR Open.

Joujan becomes the first signing announced for the 2020-21 class. He also joins a team who had four student-athletes of German descent last season.

The men's tennis team was off to a 6-2 start in 2019-20 before the season was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic.
