DAY ONE RESULTS
NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans fought hard but blustery conditions at RidgePointe Country Club contributed to the Privateers being tied for eighth place after the first two rounds of the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate on Monday.
With almost 30 mph winds swirling about the Privateers shot rounds of 302, and 300 – their first rounds over 300 this season to finish the day at 602.
Brady Bennett continued his hot start to the campaign with a first-round 70 – the only Privateer under par in any round today - before a second-round score of 76 left him tied for seventh after the first day. The former Zachary Bronco sank a team-best 10 birdies on Monday.
In his first time in the lineup for the Privateers, true freshman
Kyle Bennett built on last week's strong performance with rounds of 73 and 79, tying him for 22
nd place overall heading into Tuesday.
Grayson Gilbert struggled early in the first round with a 78 before a six-stroke improvement led to an even-par second round. Gilbert is tied for 30
th at 6-over-par.
Rounding out the scoring for the Privateers were
Henry Augenstein (T65) who shot a 157, and birthday boy
Thomas Artigas (T88) who shot a 168.

"Rough day out there today – nobody really had their game today and the conditions did not help. It was raining at times and the wind blew between 25 and 30 miles an hour all day. We did not do a good job of adjusting to the conditions, but I will give the guys credit – we had a lot of fight out there but just couldn't put up many good numbers. We'll get some rest tonight and come out tomorrow more focused with hopefully better results."
