HOUSTON, Texas – The New Orleans Privateers volleyball team will begin their trek in the Southland Conference Tournament on Thursday afternoon at Sharp Gym. Their opening round opponent is the UIW Cardinals and the match is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. start. The whole tournament will be broadcast on ESPN+.

ALL-CONFERENCE RECOGNITION
Sheilah Purcell and
Sh'Diamond Holly were both recognized by the conference as second team selections on Wednesday afternoon.
Purcell is on pace to finish with the third highest digs per set total in a single season in program history. This season, Purcell ranks second in the Southland in digs at 4.93 per set. Holly is also ranked in the top five in the conference in blocks at 1.11 per set. Earlier this season, Holly had a 13-block performance, which was the second most in a match in program history.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

Atira Jells has been piling up the kills down the stretch. In her last three matches, Jells has 42 kills and in each match, she has posted an attack percentage of at least .450.

Trinity Jackson led the team in kills in the regular season with 195. She also added 233 digs, second most on the squad.

Alexis Parrish had 160 kills on the season and recorded six matches of 10 or more kills this season.
-The Privateers are going to the Southland Tournament for the third time since joining the conference. Their last appearance was in 2019.
-UIW won both matches against the Privateers in the regular season.
-Bethany Clapp finished third in the conference during the regular season in kills per set, recording 3.22.
