Women's Basketball Returns to Court, Faces Grambling State

NEW ORLEANS – After 28 days away from the court, the New Orleans Privateers women's basketball team returns to action with an afternoon game at the Lakefront Arena against the Grambling State Tigers. Tip is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

INSIDE THE MATCH-UP
The Privateers and Tigers will be playing against each other for the seventh time in program history. The all-time series is tied at 3-3. Grambling State has won each of the last two meetings, which happened in the 2013 calendar year.

NOTABLES
-Four previous games were wiped out due to health and safety protocols. The Privateers' contests against Auburn, Jacksonville State, LSU and Alcorn State were all canceled.
-In six games this season, the Privateers have not had a solo leader in rebounds. Every game, at least two players have tied for the team lead in boards. In the last game against Ole Miss, Jomyra Mathis and Zanaa Cordis each had five rebounds.
-Speaking of that Dec. 1 contest in Oxford, Mathis posted her third double-digit scoring output this season when she matched her season-high with 17 points.
-DeArica Pryor is also coming off a season-best scoring effort with 14 points against the Rebels.
-This will be the last non-conference game before the Privateers head to Katy, Texas to compete in the Southland Tip-Off Tournament. New Orleans will open on Jan. 3 against Northwestern State at 11 a.m.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
-Grambling State has lost eight straight against a touch schedule after beating two in-state opponents to start the season (ULM, Northwestern State).
-Alexus Holt is the team's leading scorer and has three games of 20 or more points. That includes a 21-point performance against Auburn.
