NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans track & field program finds itself ranked amongst the nation's best in the first U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) #EventSquad rankings of the 2021 indoor campaign.
The men's team had three squads ranked nationally as the mile group was 35th in all of NCAA Division I, the 3,000-meter guys were 57th in the country and the 60-meter squad came it at 66th.
The women's side also had three squads amongst the nation's best as the student-athletes in the mile were ranked 40th and both the 60-meter and 400-meter groups were 54th overall, respectively.
The strong rankings come after the Privateers had one of their best collective meets in recent memory at the LSU Louisiana Invitational this past weekend. New Orleans set one school record, 18 personal bests and had countless student-athletes break into the top-100 in the country in their respective events.
The Privateers are off this week from competition but will return with the Samford Invitational No. 2 that runs Friday, Feb. 12 through Saturday, Feb. 13 at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala.
