LAFAYETTE, La. – The New Orleans track & field program had an evening of personal bests as the Privateers opened the two-day Louisiana Classics, hosted by Louisiana at the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer/Track Complex on Friday.

NOTABLES

Cameron Carpenter placed fourth overall in the men's 5000 with a new personal best of 15:43.77.

Vojislav Gvero claimed sixth in the men's discus with a best toss of 43.94m.

Holly Hedrick,
Brianna Lucas and
Jade Talazac all posted new personal records in the women's 5000 at they took sixth, seventh and ninth overall with times of 19:19.03, 19:30.43 and 19:55.49, respectively.

James Grant and
Kemar Cumberbatch both just missed out on new PRs as they finished 11
th and 13
th in the men's 200 dash. They recorded marks of 22.58 and 22.60.

Karena Grigenas and
Addison Fraker both competed in the women's discus as they took ninth and 11th overall with chucks of 37.00m and 31.14m.

Travis O'Callaghan made his 2021 outdoor debut and posted a 13th-place finish in the men's discus and 14th-place showing in the javelin.
UP NEXT
The Privateers are back for the final day of the Louisiana Classics on Saturday, March 20, at the Ragin' Cajuns Soccer/Track Complex. Field events will get the day underway at 10 AM while the track portion of the schedule will get underway at 2 PM.
