Privateers Have Tough Day at Walden on Lake Conroe

DAY ONE RESULTS

NEW ORLEANS –
Through the first nine holes of the Huntsville Toyota Bearkat Invitational, the Privateers sat alone in first place - sadly there were 27 more holes to play at Walden on Lake Conroe Golf Course on Monday afternoon.

The difficult course lived up its reputation - after two rounds of play the Privateers finished in 14th place out of 15 teams with a score of 618.

Florian Moosmeier had the best day for the Privateers finishing tied for 30th after rounds of 73 and 77 with four birdies.

Brady Bennett was the only other Privateer to finish inside the top 50. Rounds of 75 and 77 were good enough to tie the junior for 36th place.

Bennett's five birdies tied teammate Grayson Gilbert for the most by a Privateer through the first 36 holes.

UT Arlington sits in first place after day one with a team score of 573 (-3), while Max Wochner of Wichita State leads the individuals at 140 (-4).

The final round tees off at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow morning with live scoring available on Golfstat.

NOTES
- Today's second-round score of 316 was the highest round by the Privateers since shooting a 319 in the second round of the 2019 Southland Championships.
- No Privateer shot par or better in the first two rounds of a tournament for the first time since 2018 David Toms Intercollegiate.

COACH JEFF LORIO
"Today wasn't by any means what we wanted or expected. We were able to fight through some adversity in the morning round. We were in a position to really move up the leader board in the afternoon, but obviously, that did not happen. It was very a disappointing afternoon and we didn't put up much of a fight. I can promise you the guys will return tomorrow morning with something to prove."
