OFFICIAL SOUTHLAND RELEASE
NEW ORLEANS – Florian Moosmeier was named second-team All-Southland by the league office this morning.
Flo' played in five of the six tournaments for the Privateers during the spring with a team-best 73.462 average – the fifth-best stroke average in the Southland this season. The second-year junior transfer finished three rounds under par this year with a low round of 68 during the first round of the Gulf Coast Collegiate in early March.
The German's best event came just over two weeks later when he finished one stroke short of the Big Texan championship. After completing his 54-holes Moosmeier was in first place, but Alex Clouse of ACU still had two holes to play. Flo' finished the Big Texan with a score of 211, the second-best score of his career on the Lakefront, and the best 54-hole score by a Privateer this season.
Flo' finished in the top-25 in all five tournaments he played in this season with a pair of top-10 finishes - seventh at the Gulf Coast Collegiate, and second at the Big Texan. He was strong against Southland competition compiling a 55-12 record against Southland golfers this season.
Moosmeier joins
Max Hellstrom (2018-2019) as the only All-Southland selections in school history and becomes the 16
th All-Conference selection in program history.
A pair of Sam Houston Bearkats shared the league's Golfer of the Year honors - Paul Chaplet and Will Holcomb. Freshman of the Year was given to Pedro Marin of Lamar, while Chaplet also won Newcomer of the Year. The Coach of the Year was Sam Houston's Brandt Kieschnick.
