NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers volleyball team will start their Southland campaign on Saturday when they face the Nicholls Colonels in Stopher Gym. First serve is scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m.

The match will also be a fundraiser for relief for those affected by Hurricane Ida. There will be no admission charge but those attending will be asked for a $5 donation or a non-perishable item for entry to Stopher Gym.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
The Privateers were on the short end of two tough five-set losses at the Louisiana Tech Invitational but they racked up the digs in bunches. 171 digs were compiled in the last two matches including 33 by
Trinity Jackson in the Louisiana Tech bout.
Jackson's 33 digs marked the third highest total in a single match in program history. She also made her second all-tournament team of the season after posting 36 kills and 63 digs.
The Privateers have enjoyed a run of wins against the Colonels. New Orleans is 5-1 against Nicholls in the last six meetings. The most recent was a 3-0 win earlier in the calendar year in February.
Maxine Walsh continues to pace the team in blocks per set at 19 in 19 sets. Walsh had six blocks in the Privateers' match against Southern.
Alexis Parrish leads the way in total blocks with 22.
The Colonels are 7-5 heading into Saturday's tilt. Nicholls went 1-2 in the War Eagle Invitational with a win against Belmont.
New Orleans begins Southland play with a road stretch. After Saturday morning's match, the Privateers continue on the road the following week against HBU (Thursday, Sept. 30) and McNeese (Saturday, Oct. 2).
