NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers conclude their long road trip this week when they face the HBU Huskies on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The Privateers follow it up with a 1 p.m. match against McNeese in Lake Charles on Saturday.

The Privateers got off to a winning start in conference play when they defeated Nicholls 3-1 last Saturday in Thibodaux. New Orleans had a season high 15 blocks in the match victory against the Colonels.

Saturday's win against Nicholls marked the fifth consecutive season the Privateers won their Southland opener dating back to 2017.

New Orleans currently leads the conference in assists per set and is also top three in the Southland in digs and blocks.
Â
Sh'Diamond Holly currently leads the Privateers in hitting percentage and has 27 total blocks. Holly posted a season best seven blocks in the New Orleans victory against Nicholls.

Three Privateers are in the top ten in the Southland in digs per set.
Sheilah Purcell has 4.39 digs per set and had a season best 21 against Nicholls.
Trinity Jackson and
Rita Zecchin are ninth and tenth respectively in digs.

HBU is 10-5 overall and won their conference opener against McNeese. Ebonie Ballesteros is the conference leader in blocks at 1.33 per set. As a team, the Huskies lead the Southland in digs per set.

McNeese is 6-6 this season with a 3-0 mark at home. The Cowgirls are first in the league in service aces and have the second lowest opponent hitting percentage.
