NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers men's and women's tennis teams will both make the trip to Lorman, Miss. to face the Alcorn State Braves on Friday. Both teams will play a pair of matches against Alcorn State with the first starting at 10 a.m.
The women's team will be looking to bounce back after a tough loss against a South Alabama squad that went 7-1 in league play and 15-6 overall.
Marthe Degeorges and
Mar Gendra both earned singles wins for the Privateers in the regular season debut.
New Orleans is in the midst of a stretch that features six of the first eight matches on the road. The scheduled match against Loyola on Sunday, Jan. 30 has been postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date.
The men's squad put the finishing touches on a 4-3 win against Lamar on Tuesday in Beaumont. New Orleans flipped the script against the team that defeated them in the Southland semifinals last spring. The three doubles squads all won their matches with two going to tiebreaks.
In singles,
David Tesic earned the deciding point at flight four after outlasting his opponent in an 8-6 tiebreaker in the second set.
Dhruv Tangri also won his collegiate spring singles debut with a three-set decision at flight six.
Marcel Volz also started the 2022 season with a win at flight one in singles.
