Privateers Head to North Louisiana to Face Grambling

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers women's basketball team (1-1) takes the trip to North Louisiana on Friday when they face the Grambling Tigers (0-3) on Friday evening at the Frederick C. Hobdy Assembly Center. Tip is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The Privateers are coming off a home opening win against South Alabama by a score of 71-63 on Monday evening at the Lakefront Arena. DeArica Pryor scored a career-high 29 points as the Privateers won their second game in three seasons against the Jaguars.

New Orleans will begin a two-game SWAC road swing on Friday. They also have the Alcorn State Braves in a road game on Tuesday, Nov. 22. The Privateers will also play SWAC member, Mississippi Valley State this season on Dec. 14 at home.

Both of these teams met at the Lakefront Arena last season in a game Grambling won 61-49. The Privateers were playing their first game in nearly a month when they faced the Tigers after a shutdown in the program due to COVID-19 protocols.

Grambling leads the all-time series 4-3 and has won three straight. All three of the Privateers' wins in the series have come outside of New Orleans.

Through two games, Justice Ross has 17 rebounds. Her 8.5 RPG are fourth in the Southland heading into Friday. Nora Francois had her first double-digit scoring output as a Privateer with 12 points against South Alabama.

Grambling (0-3) has lost to Tulane, Arizona State and Grand Canyon. The latter of the three was a 63-56 loss. The Tigers entered the fourth quarter trailing by just one and they led with 3:59 left but Grand Canyon finished the game on a 9-0 run.

Colbi Maples is the team leader in scoring at 11 points per game. Maples went for 15 points against Grand Canyon. Miracle Saxon is the team's leading rebounder (7.7 RPG) and had a double-double against Arizona State.
